What tools do I need for metal jewelry making

The most popular and least expensive form of jewelry making is beaded jewelry. The tools needed are minimal and can often be bought in a kit along with the beads and instructions on how to make the jewelry. Although sometimes household items such as pliers, wire cutters and tweezers may also be needed depending on the intricacy of the design or the quality of the kit.

As the design and scope of  your homemade jewelry expands so will the amount of jewelry equipment and tools needed. Many retailers sell specialised tool kits for specific types of jewelry. These tend to be better value than buying all of your tools separately and if you have a toolkit its unlikely that you find yourself stuck mid-project with a missing tool and therefore unable to finish your masterpiece.

One thing to bear in mind when choosing what types of jewelry to make at home, is safety. Many children love to use their imagination when creating beaded jewelry but supervision over youngsters and needles etc. is paramount. Some of the more advanced jewelry making requires soldering irons, kilns, hammers, anvils and much more besides. So even for the adult, care and attention and a little thought is needed.
